Getting Your AC Ready for Summer

We know that there is a lot going on in the world right now. With so much occupying all of our minds, it can be easy to let some things slip through the cracks. Even with serious issues affecting the entire globe, though, you need to remember the essentials of everyday life. And, for those of us in California, that definitely means keeping our air conditioning systems in great working condition.

Our Glendale, CA air conditioning pros want to share some tips with you for getting your air conditioner back into action successfully. The last thing you want to be dealing with on a scorcher of a summer day an air conditioner that’s broken down on you. Be sure to keep these tips in mind, and contact us with any questions that you may have. Your comfort is not an area to make concessions on, especially when comfort and safety intertwine during the heat of the summer season!

Visually Inspect the Outdoor Unit

No, we don’t mean that you should pull up an online tutorial of how to service your outdoor unit. Don’t get in over your head or fall for the trap of false confidence that the internet can provide! Instead, we just mean complete a quick visual inspection of the outdoor unit to ensure that things aren’t obviously causing problems.

Is there a lot of yard debris all over the unit or the surrounding area? Clear that away. It makes the unit more accessible for the professionals, and helps to protect the system from unnecessary damage. Is the power cord frayed or otherwise distressed? Let us know. Your system is not reliable or safe without a dependable power source.

Check the Air Filter

The most effective step that you can take in an effort to keep your system functioning properly is to change the air filter regularly, as needed. Never dive into a new cooling season without doing so. Even if you changed the filter toward the end of last season, at least check on this filter.

The issue with a dirty air filter in your AC has less to do with the air quality in your home and more to do with the airflow resistance that a dirty filter creates. When faced with too much airflow resistance, the AC will struggle to distribute cooled air efficiently. The increased resistance can also cause overheating and lead to problems like short cycling and excessive wear and tear.

Schedule Maintenance

There is no denying the need for professional air conditioning maintenance. This detailed, comprehensive AC tune-up is a job that only trained professionals can handle. Again, don’t think you can stumble through this successfully on your own.

What you can do, and should do, however, is enroll in our maintenance program. Not only do you enjoy all of the benefits of routine maintenance, but you also save even more money and enjoy greater convenience! There’s no downside here, so give us a call today.
