Why Is My AC Blowing Warm Air?

When you live in as warm a climate as we do, you need more than a “good enough” performance from your air conditioning system. You need a dependable, effective, and efficient performance from your AC. Unfortunately, there is not a single system out there today that is going to offer service of that quality at all times. And an air conditioner that blows warm air is just about the last thing that you want to encounter in your home.

There are a few different reasons why your air conditioning may start to blow warm air. It is important to remember that your system shouldn’t ever do so, even when it is very hot outside. This may seem like a problem that nobody would ever ignore, but that’s where you get into that “good enough” area. If your system is struggling to cool air sufficiently, then it’s time for AC repair in Long Beach, CA.

Check Your Thermostat

This is a bit of advice that sometimes elicits an eye roll from people. We know, we know—it sounds obvious. But trust us, there is a reason why we remind homeowners of this—and it is precisely because it’s an issue that comes up time and time again!

Now, we’re not necessarily suggesting that you’re running your heater when it’s hot out. You’d have to really set the thermostat incorrectly to get the heat started up when it’s that hot outside. However, you may have accidentally switched it over to the fan-only mode, resulting in warm air coming from the AC. This is definitely a best-case scenario.

Have Your Ducts Tested

If you notice that the air coming from your vents is warm, but really only in a few specific spots, then it is very possible that you have leaky ductwork. You cannot expect to inspect your air ducts thoroughly on your own, unfortunately. You’ll need a professional to get the job done.

That means working with the pros on our team. We offer the duct testing services necessary to determine with certainty if leaky ductwork is indeed the cause of your problems. And, if we determine that this is the case, we also offer the duct sealing services that you need to resolve the problem completely, with lasting results.

The Big One

We’re not going to sugar coat this. If your air conditioner is not blowing air that is as cool as it ought to be, then it may well have a refrigerant leak. And, if your air conditioner has a refrigerant leak, then it may well suffer damages that are too cost-prohibitive to justify repairs. That could leave you on the hook for a new air conditioning system.

This is precisely why it is so important that you reach out to a member of our team the moment that you notice a problem with your home cooling system. The longer that you wait to have the problem resolved, the more serious that problem is likely to become. Be it a refrigerant leak or a leak in your air ducts, your system is suffering right along with your comfort. Early intervention is the best cure for what ails your AC.
